Origami Wishing Star
These origami wishing stars (also called lucky stars) are easy and fun to make. Start with a long strip of paper that is of the ratio 1:13 or greater. This is to say, if the paper is 1" wide, then it should be at least 13" long. If you use a standard USA 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, you can slice off a half inch strip along the 11" edge and that works fine. You can also buy a little kit which has enough paper in it to make 100 stars. Or just buy the pre-cut strips of paper to make lucky stars yourself.

| These lucky stars can be made into jewelry such as earrings and bracelets. You can put them in a jar as a decoration, or make a Stars in a Jar estimation game Lucky stars can be used as fancy packing peanuts. You can even super-size them! See more photos here. |
