Star of David

This web page shows you how to cut a Star of David from a piece of paper.



  • Read the instructions on how to cut a six-pointed star here.

  • In step 5, cut a wedge that is the shape of an isoceles triangle. See boxed section above to review the properties of an isoceles triangle.

  • If you unfold the isoceles triangle, you will get a stumpy six-pointed star. To get the Star of David, you will need to do more cutting. Continue below.


  1. Cut off the bottom of the isoceles triangle. Cut below the midline (shown in red). You will get a right-angle triangle.
  2. Cut out a smaller, right-angle triangle. You will get a shape that is like a check mark.
  3. When you unfold the check mark, you will get a Star of David
