Pop Up Card Abstract

Easy Pop-Up Abstract Design

Before trying this pop up card abstract, you should try the basic pop-up card first. This pattern is a little more challenging, but still quite doable. You will need a pair of scissors, a piece of white paper, and a piece of colored paper for backing. You may also use stickers, crayons, markers, and color pencils for decorating.

  1. Fold a piece of white paper in half; this will be your 'card'. Cut four lines that look like two triangles. One triangle is big, and the second triangle is smaller and sits within the big one. Leave the tips of the triangles uncut so that they stay on the paper.

  2. Fold over the smaller triangle and then fold over the larger triangle. Press firmly and make a nice clean fold that is straight (parallel to the folded edge of the paper).

  3. Unfold both triangles so that it lies flat again. You may need to wiggle it back and forth a little.

  4. Open the card half way. Use your fingers to push both triangles into the card so that they lie between the two layers of the paper.

  5. This is how the outside of the card will look like.

  6. Open the card and push the smaller triangle back out to were it was before. Be careful to follow the pre-creased lines and make sure that the large triangle stays in while the small triangle goes back out.

  7. This is how the outside of the card will look like. When you open the card, a pleasing abstract shape will pop up at you.

  8. To complete the card, glue it onto a colored piece of paper for backing. You can decorate it any way you like. What does this pop up card abstract look like to you?
